Water and betta fish

Betta fish's biggest threat can be the thing that lets them live, water. There are many concerns about the properties of water when talking about siamese fighting fish. As these fishes are fragile and so sensitive in any case, one error or overload of anything can lead them to their death in no time.

Even these pets in the betta fish store are not treated correctly, and in a way, they need care and diet. They are there to be bought no matter how long one customer takes to arrive or decide to buy a fish. In between, they are getting exhausted and frustrated, and this thing is unknown to those pet stores owner.

Hardness of water

Water needs to be soft and not that much of thick. This means that whatever tank or aquarium size you buy, don't go for those that are way deep. Because these fishes tend to swim at almost the surface of the water, going deep will increase the water's pressure, increasing the water's hardness.

If talking statistically about water, it needs to have a carbonated hardness between 53.8 and 89.7ppm for bettas, which is ideal for any situation.

Temperature degree

This is not time taking or costs you a fortune. A little research on this and talking with a specific fish vet will lead you to have this ability to take great of bettas. Whenever we think of a fish or any sea animal, and about the temperature they need to have to survive in the water, we think of warm or a little bit of hot water degree.

But this is not the case, even not in the siamese fighting fish. The difference in water temperature is just about some degree points costing less or high. The best way to maintain the perfect temperature for these creatures is to buy an aquarium heater.

With an aquarium heater, you will not need to worry about the temperature of the water anymore.

Water current

Water current is another alarming and dangerous situation for bettas; even it can be a life-threatening issue. Talking about their nature, these creatures are incredibly fragile, soft, and sensitive. One high current or constant medium current of water can lead to their death in no time.

The water current should be as slow as possible. A swamp slow and shallow type. This way, they can swim freely and quickly, adding some months to their lifespan.

Tank properties

They need to have clean water with a large tank size. They require some space for them to swim freely without any tension of colliding with the surface or glass of the aquarium.

Also, circulate the water for the next 24 hours when the tank is newly bought. This is because the water will sit freely on the surface, and the chlorine in the water will be evaporated on its own. It gives the water a feel of a clean and hygienic form.

Also, there must be some enrichment in the tank, such as rocks, plants, exploring rooms, etc. This way, your betta will have time to spend and play with this enrichment instead of being frustrated and stressed.
